Jewelry
Care
OGI maintains the highest standards in
design, materials and craftsmanship. These
strict standards ensure the longevity of our product, so that our jewelry may
be passed down through the generations. But to become a beautiful
heirloom, jewelry must be cared for. Dust, pollution and daily wear can
cloud the brilliance of gemstones and dull the surfaces of platinum and gold. Time
worn prongs or clasps may result in the loss of a stone or a piece of jewelry. Basic
care can help preserve and protect your jewelry for many years to come.
Professional
cleaning is recommended at least once a year. Certain
pieces may require cleanings more frequently, depending upon
how often you wear them. In between these professional
cleanings, you can care for your jewelry by following these steps:
To clean diamonds, use a mild solution of water with a
drop of ammonia and apply with a soft bristle brush.
Ultrasonic cleaning is not safe for many gemstones, so
please refrain from this method.
Examine your jewelry periodically to make sure the settings
are snug and that the clasps and joinings are secure. Prong
settings are especially vulnerable; if hit against hard surfaces
or snagged on clothing, they may loosen, risking the loss
of a gemstone.
Avoid exposing jewelry to household bleaches and cleaners,
extreme temperatures, perfumes and cosmetics.
